Size of the Nominating Committee

Composition of the Nominating Committee

 

 

  • Adding all directly elected District Council members to the Fourth Sector (political sector) to double the number of members of that sector up to 600
  • The remaining three sectors are formed with reference to pre-1997 “Nine New Groups”
Electorate base of the Nominating Committee

 

  • Changing corporate votes into individual votes to increase the electorate base up to 3 millions people
Method of Nominating CE Candidates

 

  • Nomination by political parties: a political party may nominate a candidate if it obtains 5% of votes in Hong Kong
  • Civil nomination: votes from 2% of voters, i.e. 70,000-80,000 voters
  • Nominating Committee: 10% of votes from the 1,500 Nominating Committee members, i.e. nomination by 150 members
