  • 1,200 to 1,600
Composition of the Nominating Committee

 

 

  • May increase or adjust the division of the four sectors, e.g. by increasing “Associate Professionals”, “Women and Youth” and “Small and Medium Enterprises”
  • May increase or adjust the number of Nominating Committee members in each sector and division, e.g. by increasing the number of Nominating Committee members from the District Council

Method of nominating CE candidates

 

  • For the first hurdle, a candidate must obtain not less than 1/10 and not more than 1/8 supporting votes from the Nominating Committee members in order to be recommended to be a prospective candidate
    • In the nomination process, there will be a maximum of 8-10 prospective candidates who have obtained enough support
  • For the second hurdle, each Nominating Committee member may vote for 1-4 prospective candidate(s) in order to select the 2-4 formal CE candidates with more than half of the votes and the highest votes
    • If less than 2 prospective candidates obtains more than half of the effective votes, the Nominating Committee will run another round of voting for the prospective candidates with less than half of the votes until 2-4 CE candidates are produced

  • More than half of the votes is required
  • If no CE candidate obtains more than half of the votes, the two candidates with the highest votes will enter the second round of voting and the one with more votes will get elected
